16F OM3 Armored MPO-MPO Trunk Cable -3.0mm
The 16-fiber OM3 armored MPO-MPO patch cord is a high-density multimode fiber optic interconnect engineered for next-generation parallel optics deployments in data center and enterprise environments. Terminated with 16-fiber MPO connectors on both ends, this patch cord supports 400GBASE-SR8 and emerging 800G transceiver architectures while providing enhanced mechanical protection through its armored cable construction.
Description
Design Principles
Armored Cable Construction. The cable integrates a helically wound stainless steel interlock armor layer surrounding the 16-fiber bundle, delivering crush resistance ≥440 N/10 cm, full rodent protection, and superior impact and abrasion resistance. The armored design eliminates external conduit requirements in exposed cable runs—such as under raised floors, overhead cable trays, and between racks—reducing both material cost and installation complexity.
OM3 Multimode Fiber Core. The patch cord houses sixteen 50/125 μm laser-optimized multimode fibers (OM3, IEC 60793-2-10 Type A1a.2), supporting 850 nm VCSEL-based transmission with effective modal bandwidth (EMB) ≥ 2000 MHz·km. OM3 fiber enables 400GBASE-SR8 up to 100 m and 100GBASE-SR4 up to 100 m, providing a cost-effective multimode solution for intra-rack and inter-rack connectivity.
16-Fiber MPO Connector Technology. Both ends feature MPO connectors with precision-molded MT ferrules housing sixteen fibers in a single row, utilizing high-accuracy stainless steel guide pins for sub-micron alignment. The 16-fiber MPO format supports 8-fiber parallel optics with 8 spare fibers or full 16-fiber transmission for emerging 800G SR8 architectures. Available in Type A and Type B polarity configurations per TIA-568.2.
Optical Performance. MPO connectors achieve insertion loss ≤ 0.35 dB per mated pair and return loss ≥ 20 dB. Every assembly undergoes 100% end-face inspection per IEC 61300-3-35 and IL/RL verification per IEC 61300-3-4.
Environmental Compliance. Available in LSZH or OFNP jacket options, compliant with IEC 60754-2, IEC 61034-2, and NFPA 262. Operating temperature: -20°C to +70°C.

Benefits of Armored Fiber Patch Cable
Common fiber optic cable is fragile, which needs to be protected, especially when in harsh applications where cables could be compromised by rodents, constant wear and tear or weather damage. Armored fiber patch cable retains all the features of standard fiber cable but is much stronger due to its extra layers of armor. With the protection of flexible and durable steel tube, armored fiber patch cable will ensure the excellent operation of your network.
