The 12-fiber armored MTP-LC breakout patch cord is a ruggedized, high-density fiber optic interconnect engineered for mission-critical data center and telecommunications deployments. Featuring a 12-fiber MTP connector on one end and twelve individual LC simplex or 6x LC DX or 6x LC uniboot connectors on the breakout legs, this assembly enables reliable transitions from multi-fiber trunk infrastructure to standard single-fiber equipment interfaces, with armored cable construction ensuring superior mechanical protection.

Description

Design Principles

Armored Cable Construction. Each breakout leg integrates a helically wound stainless steel interlock armor layer, delivering crush resistance ≥440 N/10 cm, full rodent protection, and impact resistance. The armored design eliminates external conduit requirements in exposed cable pathways, reducing infrastructure cost and installation complexity in harsh or high-traffic environments.

Compact 2.0mm Profile. Each breakout leg maintains a 2.0 mm outer diameter despite integrated armor, minimizing cable bulk while preserving mechanical integrity. Tight-buffered 900 μm fibers with aramid yarn strength members ensure reliable tensile performance.

MTP Connector Technology. The MTP connector houses twelve precision-aligned optical fibers within a single-row MT ferrule, utilizing high-accuracy stainless steel guide pins for sub-micron positioning. MTP connectors feature floating ferrule design and elliptical guide pins for optimized physical contact, delivering superior multi-fiber alignment compared to standard MPO. Available in Type A, Type B, and Type C polarity configurations per TIA-568.2, supporting both 12-fiber parallel optics and fanout architectures.

Optical Performance. LC connectors are terminated with premium zirconia ceramic ferrules polished to UPC profile, achieving insertion loss ≤ 0.25 dB and return loss ≥ 50 dB. Every assembly undergoes 100% end-face interferometric inspection per IEC 61300-3-35 and IL/RL verification per IEC 61300-3-4.

Benefits of Armored Fiber Patch Cable

Common fiber optic cable is fragile, which needs to be protected, especially when in harsh applications where cables could be compromised by rodents, constant wear and tear or weather damage. Armored fiber patch cable retains all the features of standard fiber cable but is much stronger due to its extra layers of armor. With the protection of flexible and durable steel tube, armored fiber patch cable will ensure the excellent operation of your network.
